We do not sell or share your personal information.
Comparion compares ride fares. To do that we need where you want to go, and — if you choose to connect an account — permission to ask that provider what they would charge you. That is the whole purpose, and we do not repurpose it.
1. Who We Are
Comparion is a mobile application that compares ride fares across third-party providers. We are the controller of the information described here. Contact: [email protected].
Comparion is not a transportation provider. When you book, you leave Comparion and transact with the provider you chose, under their privacy policy — not ours.
2. What We Collect
| Category | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Trip details | Pickup and destination you enter, recent searches | To request a fare for that route |
| Approximate or precise location | Device location, only with your permission | To set your pickup and find nearby availability |
| Provider access tokens | OAuth tokens for accounts you connect | To retrieve fares priced for your account |
| Device & diagnostic data | App version, OS version, crash and error logs | To keep the app working |
| Support correspondence | What you send us by email | To answer you |
Comparion has no user accounts. There is no sign-up, no password, and no profile with us. We do not ask for your name, date of birth, or payment details — you never pay us anything.
3. Location Information
Location is used only while you are using the app to set your pickup point and find nearby availability. Comparion does not track your location in the background, and does not build a history of your movements.
Granting location is optional — you can type an address instead. You can revoke the permission at any time in your device settings; the app continues to work with manual entry.
4. Connected Accounts & Credentials
Connecting a provider account is optional. Its only purpose is to show the fare you would actually be charged, including any membership pricing, rather than a generic estimate.
When you connect an account:
- Authentication happens with the provider — for providers that support it, in your device's browser via OAuth, so your password is entered on the provider's own page and is never seen by Comparion;
- The resulting access token is stored in encrypted storage on your device;
- The token is used solely to request fares and trip information for comparisons you ask for;
- You can disconnect any provider in Settings, which deletes that token from your device immediately.
5. What We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, messages, call logs or calendar.
- We do not read your email or SMS.
- We do not collect payment card or bank details — you never pay Comparion.
- We do not track your location in the background.
- We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not run third-party ad or tracking SDKs.
- We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or share your personal information.
6. How We Use Information
- To retrieve and display fare comparisons for the trip you entered;
- To apply your membership pricing where you have connected an account;
- To show your recent searches and saved places on your device;
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability, using aggregated diagnostic data;
- To respond to support requests;
- To comply with law and to protect against fraud, abuse and security incidents.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
8. Retention & Deletion
Recent searches, saved places and provider tokens live on your device. Deleting the app, or clearing its data, removes them. Disconnecting a provider deletes that token immediately.
Diagnostic and crash data is retained for a limited period for reliability analysis and then deleted or aggregated so it no longer identifies a device.
Because Comparion has no user account, there is no server-side profile to delete. If you have emailed us, you can ask us to delete that correspondence.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to access or receive a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Most of what Comparion holds is on your own device and is within your direct control. For anything else, email [email protected]. We will verify your request — usually by corresponding with you at the same address — and respond within the timeframe required by law . You may use an authorized agent.
10. Regional Data Protection Laws
We handle personal information in line with the data protection laws that apply where you live, including South Africa's POPIA, Nigeria's NDPA, Kenya's Data Protection Act, Ghana's Data Protection Act and Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act. Where those laws give you rights, such as access, correction, deletion or objection, you can exercise them by emailing [email protected]. You may also complain to your national data protection regulator.
We do not sell or share your personal information.
11. Children's Privacy
Comparion is not directed to children and is intended for users 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn we have, we will delete it. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us information.
12. Security
Provider tokens are held in encrypted storage on your device. Network requests use TLS. We limit internal access to diagnostic data.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects you, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new date and, where appropriate, notified in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
